Now that spring is on its way and the air is getting warmer, you may be inclined to have a few guests over for a party on the patio, enjoying the weather and some of your signature burgers straight off the grill. Unfortunately, your yard is so cluttered with overgrown shrubs, fallen leaves, and maybe the occasional children’s toy that there’s hardly a clear path to the grass, let alone to walk around in. What can you do? Alumawood patio covers offer’s this Spring Cleaning Checklist.
Surface Problems
Time to dig some tools out of your garage. Find a rake, a pair of garden trimmers, and either a large trash bag or the can itself to deposit all of the waste. Rake together all of the leaves (resisting the urge to jump in the pile), pull up the weeds that tend to grow around the sides of your house and on the fence line (watch out for poison ivy!), and trim any hedges or bushes that have become overgrown. Deposit all of the piles into your preferred container.
Collect all of your tools and anything else that’s cluttering your yard, such as toys or sports equipment, and move them into your garage or storage shed. If there are any large eyesores, like that car that you may be able to fix given time you don’t have, now may be the time to get rid of them. Online, local sales sites or recycling centers are good choices.
Heading Deeper
Find your old lawnmower and weed-eater and get to work. Overgrown grass can be one of the leading causes of yard unsightliness, so be sure to get every inch of the yard you can manage. After mowing, do a once-over with the weed-eater to get all of the straggling pieces of grass. Be sure to clean up all of the trimmings if you don’t have a mulcher blade or a collecting bag on your mower.
You may want to consider having your yard landscaped or, if you’re feeling adventurous, do it yourself. It’s not all that difficult to landscape your own yard, but it’s a fair bit of manual labor; it can, however, transform your yard into an outdoor living area.
Now that you have the knowledge, head outside and spend a day in the freshly warmed air cleaning up your space. With luck, you’ll never want to leave again.
