- Scatter borax along the cracks. It will kill unwanted plants before they have a chance to take root.
- Pour salt on the weeds. Bring a a 1:2 ratio of salt and water to a boil and then pour it directly over the weeds growing in concrete cracks.
- Spray white vinegar on the weeds. This should get rid of weeds and grass poking up through the cracks.
Protect Other Plants When Spraying Weeds

You can kill them without harming nearby plants by cutting a 2-liter soda bottle in half and using the top half as a reverse funnel for the herbicide. - Lay down an old shower curtain. Tack it down on top of the dirt and below the mulch or gravel to create a weed barrier.
- Place carpet scraps beneath garden paths. Lay them upside-down along the area you want to install stones or bricks for a weed-free path.

Bleach on the weeds is a good one, but don’t do it near cement, it will stain.
